Pavement showing first signs of aging with minor surface defects. Still structurally sound with years of service life remaining if preserved properly.
Preventive maintenance. This is the ideal time for preservation treatments like crack sealing, fog seals, or thin chip seals. Addressing cracking now prevents water infiltration and extends pavement life by 5-8 years at minimal cost.
Crack sealing: $1-2/linear foot. Fog seal or rejuvenator: $1-3/sq yd. Chip seal: $3-6/sq yd. These low-cost treatments at this stage are the best return on investment in your pavement budget.
